Q: Does Latitude affect Wind Speed?

A: The evidence is not compelling.

There is no strong correlation between wind speed and latitude. At first glance, the data from the southern hemisphere appears to suggest a correlation. There is a noticeable slope to the line of regression with wind speed decreasing near the equator. However, the northern hemisphere shows none of the same behavior. As discussed in the humidity results, a latitude dependence should be mirrored around the equator.
